His Mistress by Monica Burns | Book Review + Giveaway

His Mistress by Monica Burns | Book Review + Giveaway

My Thoughts “Emotional and Scorching!” Emotional and scorching, His Mistress by Monica Burns tell a story of one man, a solicitor and one woman, a spinster blackmailed into marrying each other.  Both are hiding secrets that would ruin them in the ton’s eyes.  This is Ms. Burns’ first book in her new Self-Made Men series and I loved this story.  Yes, it is erotic but it also has romance. To be honest, I was not expecting to be blown away by this book.  In fact, I am not a fan of the dom-sub trope in romance but I decided to read […]

Redemption of the Duke by Gayle Callen | Book Review

Redemption of the Duke by Gayle Callen | Book Review

My Thoughts “Disappointing.  Blah and boring.” I was extremely disappointed with this story.  I enjoyed previous Gayle Callen books but this was tedious and just plain boring. Although Adam Chamberlin, the Duke of Rothford was intriguing, he became dull and not likable early in the story.  I also did not relate to Faith at all and did not warm up to her immediately which is an odd thing for me. I also had bad vibes with this book since I have read unsatisfactory reviews on this so far but I still forced myself to read it and waited until the […]

A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare | Audiobook Review

A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare | Audiobook Review

My Thoughts A Night to Surrender is the second book that I read from Tessa Dare.  I read Any Duchess Will Do (the 4th book in the series) first because I love to start reading a series out of order (insert sarcasm here).  This is also the first audiobook that I have listened to since last year’s audiobook debacle.  Why go back to audiobooks, you ask?  Well, I saw a Groupon for a free 2-month audiobook trial and well, tried it.  This is the first “purchase” I have with the system. A Night to Surrender is the first book in […]

Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke’s Heart by Sarah MacLean | Book Review

Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke’s Heart by Sarah MacLean | Book Review

My Thoughts “A little bit frustrating but ok” Eleven Scandals is the third book in the Love by Numbers series and it features Juliana Fiori and Simon Pearson, Duke of Leighton (we know him as the fiance of Lady Penelope in A Rogue by Any Other Name). In Eleven Scandals, we find out the real reason why Simon is averse to scandal. His younger sister is actually embroiled in a scandal herself and he plans to wed before the ton gets a whiff of it. Enter Lady Penelope Marbury (read my review for A Rogue by Any Other Name), who is […]

Nine Rules to Break when Romancing A Rake by Sarah MacLean | Book Review

Nine Rules to Break when Romancing A Rake by Sarah MacLean | Book Review

My Thoughts I initially read Nine Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake a couple of years ago and DID NOT finish it! Gasp!  I know, right?  Then last year, I picked up One Good Earl Deserves a Lover and I was hooked!  I immediately went back and read her backlist and I am so glad that I did. The story takes place 10 years later when Callie, wanting to be free and taking a page from her brother, creates a bucket list.  Naturally, she immediately visits Gabriel in his townhouse in the middle of the night to ask for […]

Sapphires are an Earl’s Best Friend by Shana Galen | Book Review

Sapphires are an Earl’s Best Friend by Shana Galen | Book Review

My Thoughts “A page-turning tale of mystery and espionage” Sapphires are an Earl’s Best Friend is the third book in Shana Galen’s Jewels of the Ton series and focuses on Lily Dawson’s HEA. I enjoyed reading about Lily’s backstory. The story starts off with Lily (as a child) who was obviously intrigued by her father’s work. Her father is also a spy. Despite growing up in a loving family, she makes a mistake and is thrown out of the family home and is rescued by Lord Sinclair and his wife. I was very curious about Lily’s backstory since I read […]

No Ordinary Mistress by Robyn DeHart | Book Review

No Ordinary Mistress by Robyn DeHart | Book Review

My Thoughts No Ordinary Mistress is Robyn DeHart’s first book in her series Masquerading Mistresses.  This is a novella and I was a little bit surprised how well the story flowed despite it being a little bit short for my taste. The two protagonists: Emma Masterson and Remington (love that name, BTW) Hawthorne, Earl of Latham are spies for the Crown.  To complicate things, there are (were) partners.  The story opens two years before when both Emma and Remy (Remington) were on assignment together and both had a falling out.  Emma, being an independent woman that she is, did not want […]
