Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs | Audiobook Review

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs | Audiobook Review

MY THOUGHTS I have heard a lot of great things about Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs so I was pretty psyched when I started listening to the audiobook.  Unfortunately, I was a little put off.  Miss Peregrine’s did not live up to my expectations. Let’s talk about the genre. First off, it was marketed as a scary middle-grade novel but it just wasn’t!   I honestly don’t have any issues for the way the plot went, but it was marketed as a spine-tingling fantasy.  With the creepy looking girl on the cover, to the creepy pictures included in […]

Bookish Discussions: So Much for My Happy Ending

Bookish Discussions: So Much for My Happy Ending

Let’s talk about anything bookish! Let’s talk about sad endings in books.  Do you love them or avoid them like the plague? I have loved Walt Disney fairy tales for as long as I remember.  In fact, I still do.  And since Disney’s fairy tales always end up with a happy ending, I love reading about happy endings.  However, that isn’t saying that I loathe sad endings.  No!  In fact, I also love reading about not so happy endings or sad endings (yes, I love Avril Lavigne’s song “So Much for my Happy Ending“). Let’s talk about happy endings first.  The […]

The Match of the Century by Cathy Maxwell | Book Review

The Match of the Century by Cathy Maxwell | Book Review

I received this book for free from the Publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. MY THOUGHTS One of my favorite tropes is reunion romances and A Match of the Century by Cathy Maxwell was going to be that.  However, I was hugely disappointed.  I really tried to soldier on and finish the book, but I just couldn’t do it!  I finally gave up at 79% and decided to just let it go and mark it as DNF. What did not work for […]

Last month’s deets on I Heart Romance & YA Hey all!  November has been awesome for me and my creative juices have been overflowing to the brim!  I am so excited to be actively blogging and connecting with other book bloggers.  I think this has helped me rediscover my love for blogging. Malware Horrors and Moving from Feedburner to Mailchimp

Malware Horrors and Moving from Feedburner to Mailchimp

Thoughts, life, and struggles of the blogger (moi) Let’s talk about this thing called MALWARE and other things A couple weeks ago, I discovered that my little bloggy was …. wait for it …. infected with MALWARE! Dan dan daaaaaan!  I absolutely freaked the H out thinking that I was going to lose everything I worked so hard for – my reviews, my reviews, my reviews (even though they crosspost to Goodreads) and a few random blog discussions.  Thankfully, I was able to save all my posts but everything else is a bit wonky (i.e. my challenge posts aren’t tracked with the […]
