The first time I met him, his sexy British accent almost talked me into giving him my number on the spot. The second time, he nearly charmed the panties off me with his wit. Then I learned he's the key to success in my new job in Paris. The man who tempts me into fling-worthy dirty daydreams has turned out to be my personal translator, and his accent is the hottest thing I've ever heard. My mantra is simple -- Don't mix business with pleasure. I do my best to resist him as he teaches me how to converse with my co-workers, navigate the metro and order the perfect bottle of wine at dinner. But I also figure out how to tell the charming and clever man what I most want to say -- that I want him to take me back to his flat -- tonight.Except there's a catch...

One more assignment before I take off on my big adventure...

And it involves the toughest work ever -- resisting the fetching American woman I spend all my days with. But you know what they say about best intentions. Soon, we're spending our nights tangled together, and I don’t want to let her go. The trouble is, my wanderlust is calling to me, and before we know it I'll be traveling the globe to fulfill a promise I made long ago.

What could possibly go wrong with falling in love in Paris? Nothing...unless one of you is leaving.

My Thoughts

Sometimes there is a book that transports you to a different place. Sometimes there is a book that will make you believe in fate and love and forever. Wanderlust is that book. This is perhaps the first book that made me feel that I was in Paris. WOW. I am without words. Joy and Griffin’s slow burn romance caught me by surprise and it felt so real.

I selected Waderlust by Lauren Blakely because I was curious about the narrator. This book is narrated by Grace Grant and Richard Armitage – YES, THE RICHARD ARMITAGE! I have to say that I never regretted my decision because this book is everything I want and more!

I love each of the character arcs and how they were developed throughout this book. This also has a bit of a slow-burn, but the chemistry between Joy and Griffin was amazing!

Romance, aside, I love that we get to experience Paris through the eyes of Joy, an American who just moved to Paris to escape her life in Texas. She even shows Griffin the different things in Paris that no one really notices. I felt like I was experiencing Paris WITH a local and a tourist. Wanderlust also avoids the normal touristy spots like the Louvre. Even though there was a mention of the Eiffel Tower, there really wasn’t a lot of emphasis with it. Something that I absolutely LOVE.

I am honestly not a fan of slow burn romance, but when done right, it is amazing! Wanderlust is that book. The relationship between Joy and Griffin is gradual, but their chemistry and attraction is on point and drew me in – I wanted to find out more! I wanted to find out how these two will end up together!

Joy and Griffin each have their own baggage. Joy is trying to forget a destructive relationship and Griffin is trying to fulfill a promise to someone he loves. Both characters grow throughout the book, so when they finally get their HEA, it is absolute WELL DESERVED!

What I also loved about Wanderlust is that Joy works in STEM! She is a chemist and she works in a perfume lab, formulating scents and such. Points for this bit!

Let’s talk about the narrators Grace Grant and Richard Armitage. Holly hell did it blow me away! As a fan of dual POVs, this ticked the must-listen box for me. Wanderlust is also narrated stellarly by these two, and I have to say that Richard Armitage has a voice to die for! Especially with THAT accent!

It’s hard to articulate what is it about this book that stands out. Perhaps it’s every little thing about this book. The characters, the city, the food, the language, the culture, the romance – EVERYTHING.

I have recommended this book to my besties and I definitely recommend this to everyone who loves romance, culture, and travel. If you are an audio fan, the audiobook is a MUST! You will not be disappointed!

Let's Discuss

Do you love reading about books that are set in a different country from where you currently are?

Do you love mentions of non-touristy sites? Or do you like to read about the more popular spots?

Who are your favorite male narrators? I only like very few male narrators and prefer female narrators.
