The third electrifying romance in Lorraine Heath's USA Today bestselling Sins of all Seasons series.

The bastard son of a nobleman, Finn Trewlove was a shameful secret raised by a stranger. As Finn came of age, he had secrets, too—the clandestine nights spent with an earl's daughter. But her promise of forever ended in betrayal.

Driven by a past that haunts her, Lady Lavinia Kent seeks redemption in London's underworld, engaged in a daring cause inspired by the young man to whom she gave her innocence, and who then proved himself a scoundrel by abandoning her.

When their paths cross again, they can't deny the yearning and desire that still burns. As they discover the truth behind the deceptions that tore them apart, Finn and Lavinia must fight to reclaim what they've lost, no matter how dangerous—because love is worth the risk...

My Thoughts

I read The Scoundrel in Her Bed in December and this was actually one of my most anticipated reads of last year. In fact, I was ecstatic that I received an eARC of this book because I love this series. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a favorite and it turned out into a dud.

Don’t get me wrong, this book is written well. Not only that, Lorraine Heath is one of my favorite authors and I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I seriously don’t know what happened here! Finn’s romance was teased since the first book and so, I had such a high expectation for his HEA!

I think the problem I have with this book is Lavinia – well, Lavinia in the second half of the book! But let’s talk about the first half of the book first. I really loved that the first few chapters had flashbacks and showed us how Finn and Lavinia met and fell in love. I am a sucker of second chance romance – most especially if they met when they were younger and had to separate due to interference. The Scoundrel in Her Bed had it in spades!

However, the second half of the book started to drag and I felt that it was going in circles! In fact, Lavinia became really unlikeable after that because I did not know her motives. You should also know that Lavinia was the bride that left Thorne at the altar! The reasons why are revealed here and I felt for her, but it just wasn’t enough for me to like her.

I will have to say that the shocking revelations, in the end, was VERY unexpected. In fact, I enjoyed that part and how Lorraine Heath dealt with the complication.

I still recommend The Scoundrel in Her Bed even though I didn’t like it. I think this was just not for me. I also have problems with books that I hype myself for because when they don’t deliver, they really disappoint me so much!

Let's Discuss

Do you always love books written by your favorite authors?

About Lorraine Heath

Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals and computer code, but something was always missing. After reading a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA’s RITA® and a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times best-seller lists.
