Indiana Jones in Space! Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner [Audiobook Review]

Indiana Jones in Space! Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner [Audiobook Review]

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review.   I FINALLY read it! Unearthed by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner was… enjoyable. Well, it didn’t blow me away as I expected it to, but it wasn’t bad. It was OKAY. Let me explain. Unearthed had a lot of world building to establish. They needed to establish Gaia and of course the Earth during that time. Unearthed also introduced the main players in this adventure and why they were on Gaia in the first place. Which is why there was a lot of telling and […]

Meet Mary Sue & Gary Stu! The Hookup by Kristen Ashley [Audiobook Review]

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review. I bought this audiobook because it was on sale for $1 or something when I got the free ebook on Amazon and I can’t believe I actually finished the whole book! No, I’m not saying that The Hookup is not good, it’s just that the main characters were a Mary Sue and Gary Stu! And I haven’t said this about any character ever! I mean, I’m all for a good girl and good boy characters but SO PERFECT? Really? Izzy, the SUPER Amazing WOMAN Here’s the deal, […]

Meh Reads [Skinny Reviews]

Meh Reads [Skinny Reviews]

This book came highly recommended by one of my favorite authors and you know what, the plot sounds AMAZING! The hero, Lachlain, who is a Lycan has been in prison for almost a hundred years when he scents his mate and chews off his foot to escape. The heroine is a half vampire, half Valkyrie. Vampires and Lycans are at war with each other. Amazing, right? WRONG! I was hugely disappointed. I had such high expectations and I ended up being let down. I liked Lachlain but I HATED Emmaline! Sure, the book started out really good but by the […]

Oh, the Feels! An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn [Audiobook Review]

Oh, the Feels! An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn [Audiobook Review]

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review. I normally don’t like Cinderella retellings (except for Cinder by Marissa Meyer) but An Offer from a Gentleman snuck into my heart early in the book. In fact, I was brought to tears! This is usually my measure for loving a book. I mean, if a book makes me cry, it is up there on my favorite list! Initially, I had reservations about it since we don’t really know a lot about Benedict Bridgerton other than him being the second son. We also don’t see much […]

I Finally read The Duke and I by Julia Quinn | Audiobook Review

I Finally read The Duke and I by Julia Quinn | Audiobook Review

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review. I have a confession to make. I am a Bridgerton virgin and so when I decided to read The Duke and I, I was not prepared to binge read, in this case, binge listen, to the whole series! What do you mean a VIRGIN? Well, as much as I am a fan of historical romance, I haven’t read this Julia Quinn series! I know, THE HORROR! In fact, I had not read Julia Quinn until last year when I went to a book signing (a book […]

I Need More Steampunk! Firelight by Kristen Callihan Audiobook Review

I Need More Steampunk! Firelight by Kristen Callihan Audiobook Review

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review. Hello, awesomeness! I am still amazed at how much I love reading steampunk paranormal romance! This is not the genre that I normally read. In fact, the last steampunk paranormal books that I read was The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare and although I enjoyed them, they didn’t make me WANT to read more books from the genre. Kristen Callihan’s Darkest London series is another story! The world that she created is immersive and very interesting! Although this book didn’t receive 5 hearts from […]

Who Would’ve Guessed that I would LOVE Paranormal Steampunk? The Falconer by Elizabeth May Audiobook Review

Who Would’ve Guessed that I would LOVE Paranormal Steampunk? The Falconer by Elizabeth May Audiobook Review

Don’t want to read the whole review?  Click to jump to the Skinny Review. Well, well, well, well. Who would’ve thought that I would enjoy The Falconer so much? The fae, that’s who! *wink I believe this is the very first steampunk paranormal book that BLEW ME AWAY! Yes, it’s that AMAZING! Sure, I enjoyed The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare but that series does not come CLOSE to the amazingness that is The Falconer! The Falconer checked all the boxes for me. Awesome female character? Check! Anti-heroish mysterious character? Check! Spunky, comedic character? Check! Minimal romance? Check! Set in the […]

Skinny Reviews: That Time I Read Paranormal

Skinny Reviews: That Time I Read Paranormal

Click book title to jump to the review: My Life as a White Trash Zombie | Moon Called I haven’t read a lot of paranormal books in a while. I mean, I absolutely love a good vampire book (I absolutely love the Night Huntress series), but I haven’t really ventured into the other paranormal staples like zombies and werewolves. Sure, I love watching movies and TV shows featuring these creatures, but it is not something that I actually love to read. I have been reading a lot of historical romances lately and I picked paranormal to genre cleanse. I bought My Life as a White Trash […]
