It’s all they know how to do. No matter how badly they might be hurting other people, they still lose their way. Honestly, the hurt they cause will never compare to how much hurt they inflict upon themselves.” -Cable, Recovered   There are a number of reasons why I picked up Recovered by Jay Crownover but I don’t know why it […]

Hot Damn! Crossing the Line Series by Tessa Bailey [Audiobook Review]

Hot Damn! Crossing the Line Series by Tessa Bailey [Audiobook Review]

Hot damn, the Crossing the Line series was awesome overall! I actually binge-listened this series (not in order, mind you) and it was good. Overall, I gave this series 4/5 hearts, but each individual book has a rating range of 3-4 hearts. The Crossing the Line series has a 60-40 balance between suspense and romance, where romance gets the largest chunk of each of the books. This is exactly what I love! I do wish there was more action in the books, though. Also, I love the all the female heroes are unique in their own way, kick-ass and have baggage! It’s refreshing […]

Let Me Love You by Jessica Jayne [Excerpt + Giveaway]

Let Me Love You by Jessica Jayne [Excerpt + Giveaway]

“What the hell?” Todd sat up straighter in his chair. “Hey, man.” “Are you on a date?” Ren’s words seethed out. He completely ignored Todd, his eyes never strayed from her. His cheeks were pink, either from anger or alcohol, or both. His lips pulled into a tight line, but his bloodshot eyes couldn’t hide his hurt. She’d done that to him even after he’d given her exactly what she asked for-time. Her chest tightened and a lump in her throat threatened to choke her. “Yes, we are. Why does it matter to you?” Todd stood and crossed his […]

No Earls Allowed by Shana Galen [Excerpt + Giveaway]

In this scene, Lady Juliana must deal with a local crime lord who threatens her and the orphanage she loves. Fortunately, she’s saved, for the moment, by a handsome guest. ____________________________________________________________________________________ His hand came down hard on her shoulder, and she flinched from the feel of his leather gloves on her bare skin. “Allow me to remind you, Lady Juliana. I offered you my protection.” “Thank you very much.” She slid out of his grip. “Now, if you will excuse—” “Stop playing games. I am a man of business, and you are not a stupid woman. There are dangerous men […]

Lady in Waiting by Marie Tremayne [Excerpt]

Lady in Waiting by Marie Tremayne [Excerpt]

“My lord, are you well?” Ashworth’s hand slowly dropped from the doorknob and he stared openly at her, his expression unreadable. Clara guessed it could have been weeks or months since he’d had a loved one or a friend ask him that question. He cocked his head to the side, eyeing her curiously. “Do I appear to be unwell?” Clara bit her lip. Of course, he appeared very well indeed. She couldn’t stop her eyes from scanning over him and felt herself flush hotly in response. “Yes…no…that is, you look distressed. As if something is wrong.” Ashworth stepped forward. […]

Meh… Lazy Son by Eve Langlais [Book Review]

Meh… Lazy Son by Eve Langlais [Book Review]

I picked up Lazy Son by Eve Langlais by chance when I saw the cover of the second book Jilted Prince, and thought that the blurb was interesting. I don’t exactly know what to say about Lazy Son because this was a bit of a mess? Crazysauce? The premise is this: Christopher is the antichrist and is the son of Lucifer but Lucifer doesn’t really know that this son exists because apparently Lucifer only has daughters? And then the heroine Isobel, is a witch that doesn’t really have powers but is the granddaughter or Rasputin? Yeah, THE Rasputin! But when […]

Promise Me Always by Rhonda Shaw [Excerpt + Giveaway]

Promise Me Always by Rhonda Shaw [Excerpt + Giveaway]

“It’s nice here,” I murmured, enjoying the calming influence of the water as it lapped against the rugged shoreline, the sound occasionally breaking through the silence around us. He nodded as he stared straight ahead. Even in the darkness, I recognized the edge in his eyes. “I’ve never brought anyone here.” I sat up in wonder, reading between the lines. He was a guarded person, and for him to let someone else into his private world showed trust. The dynamics between us were changing at warp speed, and while this excited me, tiny vines of anxiety crept in, threatening to […]
