About the Romance Blogger

Anne @ Glimpses of My Books

I am a Romance Reader, a Painter, a foster mum, and I work at a bookstore. It is always busy around here.

I haven’t always been any of those things. I was actually a pastry chef at high-end restaurants in England and read nothing but cookbooks for a solid 10 years.

And that is pretty much it. I could tell you the story of my life of-course but this is pretty much all it boils down to!

First Romance Book I Read

Brida by Paulo Coelho

This is rather hard. My first encounters with romance were on books were romance was secondary. My first memory of falling in love with a couple in a book was while reading Brida by Paulo Coelho, and that is most definitely not a romance book.

My first YA couple to love was not even a couple in the end because they didn’t end up together, but in case you are curious it was Cam and Lucinda in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate.

As for full-on adult romance, I can’t say I remember what the very first one was.

Ezrah: OMG! I’ve read Fallen, too! I think I only read until book 2 and I think it was a DNF at the time. I remember this was the book I picked up after I read the Twilight Saga. I find that I’m not such a fan of reading about angels.

Favorite Romance Genre/s

I have a weak spot for Paranormal Romance and I can’t say no to a good Rock Star Romance either.

Ezrah: I’m starting to love PNR! I just started reading the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I’m currently on book 3. I also LOVE a good Rock Star Romance! Especially if the hero is the guitarist. Extra points if he is broody!

Favorite Romance Trope/s

Hate to Lovers for sure

Ezrah: I would die for a good hate to lovers romance!

Top Auto-buy Authors

As I get older I have less and less auto-buy authors. Everyone has a bad day.

For now probably Juliette Cross, Christina Lauren, and Jayne Frost.

Top Romance Books You Highly Recommend

Seriously? How can any avid reader answer that? How about the top 3-5 from the last few months only?

The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves, Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh, The Rose by Tiffany Reisz.

Ezrah: I know I had to make you pick. I’m EVIL like that! LOL Since I started reading Nalini, I can’t wait to get to her Psy-Changeling spin-off! I also have Tiffany Reisz on my TBR!

Top Romance Series You Recommend

  • Bewitched and Bewildered by Alanea Alder, 11 books so far, the very first still my favorite.
  • Stonefire Dragons by Jessie Donavan. It is hard to number this one because the spin-off series relate. It’s technically 10, but I would read the spin-off with it in order of publication too so more like 17… My favorite is also the very first.
  • Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren, 5 books. My favorite is book 4, Beautiful Secret.
  • Stage Dive by Kylie Scott, 4 books. My favorite is the first, Lick.
  • Sixth Street Band series by Jayne Frost, 5 books. My favorite is book 5, Down to You.
  • Dominion by Juliette Cross, 3rd book coming soon. My favorite is book 1, Darkest Heart.

That is 6 series… and I can keep on going until at least 10…

Ezrah: A DRAGON SERIES?! I am on it! I’ve read Lick and Down to You and I loved them! I still need to read Darkest Heart by Juliette Cross! She’s one of my new-to-me authors this year!

Favorite Quote from a Romance Book

Are you sure you ready for it?

“I love the smell of sex and brimstone in the morning”

― Juliette Cross, Darkest Heart

I have a lot of favorites of course. But this one always makes me laugh.

Ezrah: OMG! I LOVE this quote! wink*

Favorite Thing About the Romance Community

The endless string of recommendations!

Romance Myth that You Hate

All romance books are cheesy. I actually dislike cheesy most of the time.

Ezrah: I absolutely agree! Not ALL of them are cheesy!

BTW, Anne is an awesome artist! I purchased a letter from her (and I plan to order more)! This is what I purchased from her. I absolutely LOVE it!

  1. Yes to all the Stage Dive books! I love Kylie Scott, she’s so hilarious. This Stonefire Dragons series sounds super intriguing, I have to check that out.
