April 5

April 5

Today is my birthday!  Well, it’s nothing to be happy about since I turned thirty today.  *sigh To those who wished me a happy birthday, thanks.  You guys made my day extra special. While hubby was in class, I explored a local bookstore in Los Feliz.  Starlight Books is really interesting.  It’s small and homey and they have an annex a couple of doors over where they have their graphic novels and comics and artsy books (photography, design, film etc.).   The section that enthralled me was the Young Adult Section, where I picked up a book that I am […]

March Reading Updates

March Reading Updates

Happy new month everyone!  There will not be any Friday Faves this week because it is the first Friday of April.  Yes, I have decided to do my Monthly Wrap Up on the first Friday of the month so that it will be easier for me to keep track.  Gah!  I Have a lot of things on my plate right now and I can’t seem to keep track of them. I have also been busy at work this month so I wasn’t able to do much reading at night.  Plus, Farm Heroes keeps my mind occupied most of the time […]

No Ordinary Mistress by Robyn DeHart | Book Review

No Ordinary Mistress by Robyn DeHart | Book Review

My Thoughts No Ordinary Mistress is Robyn DeHart’s first book in her series Masquerading Mistresses.  This is a novella and I was a little bit surprised how well the story flowed despite it being a little bit short for my taste. The two protagonists: Emma Masterson and Remington (love that name, BTW) Hawthorne, Earl of Latham are spies for the Crown.  To complicate things, there are (were) partners.  The story opens two years before when both Emma and Remy (Remington) were on assignment together and both had a falling out.  Emma, being an independent woman that she is, did not want […]

Night of Pleasure by Delilah Marvelle | Book Review

Night of Pleasure by Delilah Marvelle | Book Review

My Thoughts Night of Pleasure is the 4th book in the School of Gallantry series by Delilah Marvelle. This is the first book in the series that I read and I was able to follow through with no problem. The story is a unique one, I have to give you that and I quite enjoyed it. We first meet both characters when they were quite young (Clementine is 14) and the hero Derek, falls head over heels in love with her. Both are betrothed but because Clementine is still too young, they wait 7 years before they have to marry. Fast […]

2014 Historical Romance Challenge

2014 Historical Romance Challenge

Challenge runs from January 1, 2014 until December 31, 2014 I’m back again and posting another challenge that I will (hopefully) complete by the end of this year.  I found this awesome challenge at Herding Cats and Burning Soup that I think is achievable since this is my preferred genre.  My goal is to read up to 60 Historical Romance books this year.  This is the same as my Goodreads Challenge since this is also the maximum number of books that I intend to read in 2014.  Below are the rules. The goal is to read at least 12 Historical […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Gateway Authors in My Reading Journey

Top Ten Tuesday: Gateway Authors in My Reading Journey

Hosted by The Broke and The Bookish This week at TTT, we are talking about our Gateway authors or in my case, Authors that influenced my reading and (at some point) my life. Francine Pascal – Sweet Valley The Sweet Valley Series was perhaps the first contemporary teen book that I read that got me into reading…voraciously.  I started with Kids, Twins, High, University, and even read the Sweet Valley Saga (both books). I literally grew up with this series and I found that I upgraded my reading level based on my age (well, I started reading SVU when I […]
