My Fair Mistress by Tracy Anne Warren | Re-read Book Review

My Fair Mistress by Tracy Anne Warren | Re-read Book Review

MY THOUGHTS TIMES READ I have read this multiple times in the last 6 years. WHEN I FIRST READ I read this in paperback (I have a copy back in the Philippines) around 2008 or 2009. ORIGINAL REVIEW Read my first review here (this is also a re-read review) WHAT I REMEMBER I remember a lady bargaining her virtue to the financier Rafe Pendragon and the story was (and still is) sizzling.  I have also read multiple books by Tracy Anne Warren that mention Rafe Pendragon as the investor that helped a few heroes in Warren’s other books become rich (see Wicked Delights […]

Burn for Me & The Conspiracy of Us | DNF Reviews

Burn for Me & The Conspiracy of Us | DNF Reviews

because these are just not my cup of tea MY THOUGHTS I just can’t get into the story. It’s just super boring and 22% in nothing has happened at all! A whole lot of info dump is what’s happening and I am still confused as to what alternate universe the setting is! DNFing at 22%. Just NO! This was my last post when I DNF’d Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews.  I had such high hopes for this book (and this series) because of the good reviews I read on GR.  But apparently, the story just didn’t work for me […]

Prodigy by Marie Lu | Audiobook Review

Prodigy by Marie Lu | Audiobook Review

MY THOUGHTS Prodigy, the second book in the Legend series, picks up right after the first one, Legend ends – with both June and Day on the run from the Republic.  They make their way to Las Vegas, where the Patriots (the rebel group out to overthrow the Republic) are supposed to be based.  With Day injured, barely able to escape his execution, they meet up with the leader of the Patriots, and also meet up with Tess and Kaylee!  At the same time, the Elector Primo dies and his young son (very young son) takes over as the current […]

The Art of Sinning by Sabrina Jeffries | Book Review

The Art of Sinning by Sabrina Jeffries | Book Review

I received this book for free from the Publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. MY THOUGHTS The Art of Sinning starts the Sinful Suitors series by Sabrina Jeffries and it features the rake/American painter Jeremy Keane, the almost husband of Lady Zoe in How the Scoundrel Seduces (The Duke’s Men #3).  Jeremy Keane spots Lady Yvette Barlow and thinks that she is HIS muse.  He finally convinces Yvette’s brother to paint her portrait (as a cover for the true reason he wants […]

Bookish Discussions: When Favorite Authors Disappoint

Bookish Discussions: When Favorite Authors Disappoint

Don’t you just hate it when your favorite author’s new book disappoints? Picture this: Your favorite author has a book coming up.  You pre-order it.  You anticipate the release for months and months.  You AVOID reading spoilers.  You are able to get an ARC/eARC of the book.  You read it.  And then…. you end up getting disappointed by the story, the plot, the characters.  You think it’s a FLUKE.  You can’t wait to read the next book in the series.  You pre-order it.  You anticipate the release for months and months.  You AVOID reading spoilers.  You are able […]

Legend by Marie Lu | Audiobook Review

Legend by Marie Lu | Audiobook Review

MY THOUGHTS “A surprising read!” I really didn’t have any expectations when I started reading this book.  In fact, I thought it was going to be another Divergent/Hunger Games dystopia book and thought it would be too cookie-cutter for my taste.  BUT I was really surprised that I enjoyed it!  Sure, there were a few flaws that made me rate it 4 stars but….. Day! Legend is really full of kickass, badass, fighter FEMALES!  In this book alone, 3 were prominent fighters.  Not to mention that the heroine, June IS a freaking child fighting prodigy!  At this point, Legend diverted from […]
