Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I Love Being A Blogger/Reader

Hosted by The Broke and The Bookish I ❤ being a reader and I have been reading since I was child.  As a matter of fact, I was told that I would not sleep if no one would read me a bedtime story.  I still don’t sleep without reading at least a few pages. I ❤ Reading because… I get to travel to the moon and back.  Yes, I have been to different places, times, and even other planets just because of reading.  My latest trip was aboard the Icarus in These Broken Stars. I get to meet different characters.  Oh, and even interact […]

January Reading Updates

January Reading Updates

January was a tough month for me – especially the last couple of weeks.  I really had high hopes for this month and I failed.  Although I read quite a few books, it’s still not what I had envisioned my month to be.  Okay, so I had a valid excuse – working really hard for the last three weeks because our annual survey was coming up PLUS month end closing AND we had to move to a new apartment!  Still, I bemoan the loss of my reading time. On a good note, I read 6 books in January; currently reading […]

The Last Wicked Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath | Book Review

The Last Wicked Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath | Book Review

Finally, we read about Dr. Graves and the true reason he became fascinated with being a physician.  This novella is a short and sweet story about Dr. William Graves and Winnifred, the Duchess of Avendale who we meet in In Bed with the Devil (Scoundrels of St. James #1).  She is Catherine Mabry’s friend who was abused by her husband, the Duke of Avendale.  This story starts a couple of years after Avendale was found “dead” (the reason for this can be read in In Bed with the Devil). In this story, Winnie has finally found confidence and courage and […]

2014 A Year of Romance Challenge

2014 A Year of Romance Challenge

Last year’s A Year of Romance Challenge did not go well as I expected.  I think I just aimed to high and did not follow through.  Plus, the themes that I chose weren’t those themes that I really loved to read.  This year is going to be different.  I have picked those themes that I normally gravitated last year.  I am trying to complete the Easy Level with 4 themes of a minimum of 6 books each theme. Levels : Easy – 1-4 Themes (6 to 24 books) Medium – 5-8 Themes (30 to 48 books) Hard – 9-12 Themes (54 to […]

2013 Challenge Results & New 2014 Challenges

2013 Challenge Results & New 2014 Challenges

As an Aries, it is doubly hard for me to finish something that I started. Naturally, it comes as no surprise that I wasn’t able to finish any challenge that I set myself to accomplish in 2013. But never despair, I am back (up to how long, I have no idea) and ready to take on a few challenges in 2014.  This time, I have changed it up a bit and I have added and dropped a few challenges. But first, let us see my 2013 challenge results! Not that impressive, right?  Well, the next couple of days, I will […]

2013 Year in [Book] Review

2013 Year in [Book] Review

Happy New Year everyone!   Today marks the first day of the new year and I just wanted to share a short list of what I loved and hated in 2013.  Before that, I would like to share my 2013 stats.  Yes, I admit that I did not finish my 60 books goal but I am still going to try to read 60 books this year.  Note that the longest book that I read was Divergent by Veronica Roth. Top 3 Fave Books    The Secrets of Mia Danvers by Robyn de Hart Taken by the Duke by Jess Michaels […]

The Trouble with Princesses by Tracy Anne Warren | Book Review

The Trouble with Princesses by Tracy Anne Warren | Book Review

This is the first book in the series that I actually read and finished (not counting the audiobook  that I listened to for The Princess and the Peer that I didn’t finish).  That being said, Tracy Anne Warren is one of my favorite authors.  For some reason, I just couldn’t get past Emmaline’s story and stopped listening altogether.  I guess it must be because I was “reading” an audiobook which I am not used to reading.  I may have to rethink the whole series and read the other two books sometime next year. The book can be read as a […]

When the Marquess Met His Match by Laura Lee Guhrke | Book Review

When the Marquess Met His Match by Laura Lee Guhrke | Book Review

My Thoughts I love Laura Lee Guhrke and was excited when I found out that she would be featuring American Heiresses in her next series.  Although I am a fan of her work (especially the Girl Bachelor series), I was a little bit disappointed about this one which is why I rated it 3.5 hearts. I had a hard time warming up to Belinda Featherstone and a little bit put off my Nicholas.  The heroine is unlike LLG’s heroines that I know and love.  Belinda, being an American, is a widow of an earl who married her for her money, […]
